Should I Consider Caribbean Schools Considering My Statistics/Chances? Are They a Viable Option?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I really hope so. I wish I had applied to DO schools this cycle or that I had consulted this website for help. It's intimidating to navigate options without any guidance to go off of.
Hopefully, they will accept you IS this cycle. If not, you are a good candidate with an early ap next cycle.

From the replies on this forum, I can see that Carribean medical schools should not be considered atleast not until I apply once more for the next cycle. I am planning on applying again as soon as the cycle opens if I don't get into OUCOM. I will apply with my current MCAT but take the new MCAT in July so that I can study over the summer. I am also contacting the hospital where I volunteered in the hopes that they can hook me up with physicians, both MD and DO to shadow. I also realize that most of the schools that I applied to OOS were state/public schools. What private schools or other OOS would you recommend considering my current GPA of 3.81 and MCAT of 28????

You don't have the MSAR?

Congrats to OP for listening to sound guidance and making a VERY wise decision

OP, your choices are basically:

1) sit out a year and apply DO/low-tier MD with a great chance of admission and getting to practice medicine, or
2) go to the Caribbean earlier with a great chance of sitting out the rest of your life.

Don't be so caught on the MD/DO label that you never become a doctor.

Close but no cigar. Do not consider Carribean ever! Not once. Not even after 3 cycles. Not a single time. There is no "at least".

Google MSAR. Purchase it. Look for schools where your numbers fall between the 10th and 90th percentiles AND have a reasonable amount of OOS students if they are OOS for you. Apply there.

Seriously, this.

If I could not get into a DO program after multiple application attempts, I'd probably look into PA or AA school rather than go off-shore for medical school.
