Should I consider platics with a 228?

I got 228 in my step 1. I'm a bit disappointed but I'm happy because I passed, but feel the score is not good for plastics. I think it may be time to rethink my future. Should I apply to plastics, or do another specialty?
I'm top 25 of my class with some research but no pubs. Any help will be appreciated.

228 shouldn't necessarily completely hold you back. Strengthen your CV as much as you can, do aways, get some good LORs, and apply to PRS and GS at the same time. You could always do the independent match. If plastics is what you really want to do, if it's what drives you, keep going for it. There are no guarantees in this process, but the safest bet to be happy is to go after your dreams as best you can, and accept the end result.

Do some research if you can, but go for it if you want to be a plastic surgeon. Sure, there's people out there with 270's, but average Step I is 240's for matched applicants, so there have to be people with lower scores that still match.
