I have had a speech impediment for my whole life and I was wondering if this was relevant in secondaries that ask for something like "hardships" or life events that have built your character (which it really has). Also, would schools look unfavorably at a speech impediment? Or is it possible to play it into my favor by saying how it had a lot to do with building my character and never quitting, etc.

Thanks in advance!

Probably mention it if you like, as long as you don't overdramatize the effect it's had in your life. Med schools shouldn't look upon it unfavorably, unless you get the meanest adcom in the world.

The point of some of those essays is how you have overcome hardship.

If it applies, it may be a good topic for a secondary prompt.

This may cause your application to be flagged with a note to the interviewer to evaluate most carefully the fluidity of your speech. If knowing that you are being evaluated in this regard will make you more likely to stutter, then you may wish to write about something else.

The slippery slope argument there reminds me a lot of people who have a hard time with blushing and therefore are always thinking about it and therefore blush even more.

A compromise could be to mention it during an interview as a hardship you overcame. It wouldn't give the interviewer as much time to evaluate the fluidity of your speach but will show your resilience.
