  • BCPM GPA: 3.64
  • Cumulative GPA: 3.67
  • Did 2/3 of my prereqs (ochem, bio, physics, some math) at community college before transferring to a UC to major in stats/computer science.
  • No upper div bio BCPM classes completed besides 2 bioinformatics classes (A-,A) and a bunch of stats classes.
  • Starting a full-time job in June (non-clinical).

Since lots of 4-year state universities are online instruction for the rest of the year, I can possibly take some upper div bio courses online during the summer and fall while working.

I asked for advice on another forum about my situation, and people there told me I was worrying too much about my CC prereqs said I was good to apply MD as long as my MCAT is good.

Is it worth it to do these upper div bio classes? (thinking about 4 classes/12 units over 1-2 years which will cost about $4000) Will be classes like upper div genetics, microbiology, physiology, immunology.

Thank you! I posted a similar thread earlier but made the post too long and unclear.

No, your GPA is fine now and you don't need more classes to try and raise it. Med schools won't care if you've taken the upper level science courses or not.
