Hi,

I want to apply for pharmacy for the 07-08 year. Should I apply directly from my first year studies (while my GPA is at its highest), or should I do my B.Sc first, and then apply? Which would you recommend?

Is it usually possible to get in directly from first year, or do they usually accept 3rd/4th years students? (I guess in terms of the "maturity" aspect)

In terms of applying, a PCAT is not required. Just a high GPA and a written essay.

What I think you mean is that you want to apply for the 08-09 year, so you would start in August 08. You could apply now, but you need to have all your pre-reqs done before you matriculate which is rare as a freshman. It is possible to get into pharm school without a bachelors but it is becoming rarer. Why this occurs is up for debate. If you are a good candidate you will get in. I say you might as well apply if you can and see what happens.

Now this part I don't know where you got the info from. Most schools now require the PCAT. And just having a high GPA and an essay aren't going to get you in. You need to have a lot of other qualities and do a lot more work in your application.

If you have BS and still maintain a high GPA, you should go to med school instead of pharmacy😀. BUT
I recommend you to apply now since school does not require BS, and also your GPA may be lower than what you have now.

Which school are you thinking of applying to?

Not everyone wants to devote their life to their job, hence why being a pharmacist can sometimes be a better choice than being a doctor.
