Hey everyone. Wanted to take your advice and insight please. I've started to receive a few interview invites and I must say, the costs add up quick! With flying and hotels and whatnot, it's more costly than I thought. I'm thinking about scheduling my interviews around mid-September beginning of October-ish so that way, all of the interview invites have pretty much come in and I can better adjust my priorities to schools and my travel expenses. Is there any downside to scheduling it at that time versus scheduling the end of this month or beginning of September? Because there's no way I can take 20 flights and book 20 hotel rooms haha I'm just a regular college student. I'd appreciate any insight. Thanks again!

Told ya that PAT score don't mean a thing

How many interviews have you received so far?

20 interviews are a lot! how many did you apply to?
If I was you, I'd take interviews from the the schools that I'd really go if I get in, in other words, top choice schools.
And for the safeties, maybe take some time and take it slowly or you can even withdraw if anything.

But many people want to go to safety school interviews for the experience so maybe you can add couple of those before serious interviews as well.

@ScarletKnight: Hahahahahaha 🙂 yeah! Scarlet Knights all day.. Yeah, that PAT score for right now seems to be getting ignored. I received 3 so far, but I hope all the schools see it that same way!

@Ijk: I was exaggerating a bit with 20 interviews, but I applied to 20 schools. What do you mean by "take some time for my safeties"? I'm definitely going to the interviews for my top choice schools, no doubt about that. It's just with the safeties, I really don't know what to do. I was thinking of putting those interviews off until mid-September or October, because by then I should know all the places I'm interviewing at most likely. Does that make sense?... I would never go for the experience haha no offense, but that experience is NOT WORTH the plane ticket. Unless you want to pitch in 😉 I'd be delighted to go around the US

As in you can take interviews for safety schools later like in mid-september and october as you wish lol if that makes sense

OP is an URM. If you take his success as a signal that PAT doesn't matter, you may be in for a rude awakening.

OP-you're extremely competitive. I'd say interview based on distance. Delay or cancel interviews with faraway schools except for the safeties and reaches of your choice.

i agree with that. the URM status definitely pushed you through. and yeah, you'll prob be getting a lot of invitations so you need to plan accordingly. i mean, you got an OOS interview for kentucky, which is pretty tough if i recall correctly .

I mean, not all people that get in with low PAT scores are URM. I know someone personally who's white and got in with a 10 PAT score, so it's not all about URM. I feel like you guys are using that almost as a way to discredit the rest of my qualifications. But take it how you want.

@Trilby, I don't think I'm 'extremely' competitive, but I just hope competitive enough to get into the schools that I want. That's what I'm going to do is schedule the far away interviews a little bit later into the cycle, around October-ish. And if I haven't heard anything back from the closer schools, then I'll plan accordingly to those schools.

@predent: yeah it's tough to get an oos interview to kentucky and iowa, so I was just actually surprised myself to be honest.

I know someone personally ..... got in with a 10 PAT score

Nah no you don't. Come on now. Hahah, sorry.

Best wishes to the OP though, it sounds like this cycle is going really well for you!!!

nah, no, I really do. haha... I mean, it's going okay. I haven't heard from a lot of the schools that other people have heard from on here that I also applied to (nova, nyu, case, etc.) so it's not great. But I can never complain.

What school? You'd rather not say? Okay. That is just like, a ridiculously low score.

I'm sure you will hear from Case, nova, etc. who knows the order in which they review apps.... Yeah you're in good shape with 20 prospective interviews!

PS I see you're well qualified, brush off the haters trying to pull the URM got you thru card. Ef that. Qualified is qualified is qualified, despite a "low" PAT.

Haha the 20 was just exaggeration. I've only received a few thus far, but I hope you're right about hearing back from those schools as well as others. And thank you for the support! We'll see what happens. I hope we're both qualified enough😉
