Hey so this is my first posting ever, but I just wanted to ask someone's opinion.

SO, I will be graduating in dec with a major in Kinesiology and a minor in biology. BUT I am only 11-15 hours away from getting a double major of kinesiology and Biochem...I have enough financial aid to get by till may, but is it worth it? By that I mean do med schools like double majors? I thought it might be cool for DO schools because these majors give both hard science and musculoskeletal focus?

Well anyway thanks and good luck! 😎

What else would you be doing with yourself between jan-may if you werent doing 15 more credits at school?

If you don't have a good answer, I'd definitely go for it. I got a double major and it came up at most of my interviews and was a good talking point- though I'm not sure I'd push the whole 'understanding the musculoskeletal system' thing unless you've taken a lot of biomechanics courses.

I would get the biochem major. If all else fails you can acutally use that. Of the biological sciences, biochem is the only one that I have ever seen to really command a decent wage with a bachelors.

If you are a competitive applicant, I wouldn't waste the time or the money.

I agree. If you've got good grades and something else to do with your life graduate and hit the door.

Assuming that medical school wasn't your goal, is this something you would want to do? If the answer is yes, then by all means do it. I don't think medical schools will care.

I was a triple major in college, but it was because I was truly interested in the three subjects (and had no bearing on my medical school application).

If you are considering this only to look better to medical schools then don't bother because it doesn't make you any better of an applicant. Instead focus on volunteering and gaining clinical experience as others have suggested.
