I'm in my last year of undergrad, and I am currently taking 18 hours. I was assaulted this past weekend and suffered a mild concussion and a nose fracture. I may need to press charges and deal with all of this... and on top of that, all these symptoms (fatigue, constant headache, emotionality, flashbacks) are not horrible to deal with, but they are stressful and cumbersome. I was planning on graduating this semester and applying to med school in May, but now I'm thinking on maybe dropping 2 classes (government and evolution) and taking them in the summer. I guess on the plus side, I'd have a chance of boosting my GPA. Will dropping two classes in my graduating semester hurt my med school chances? What do you guys think? 😕

It sounds like a rough situation, but the semester is almost over. Plus, will it really take that long to press charges. I say stick with it. You are so close. And it will look bad. If given a chance to explain it you might be ok, but I don't think withdrawing is logical in this situation.

Pressing charges is a bureaucratic mess - you don't want to do that and be caught up trying to study. I would suggest tough it out - but I am not the one who was hurt.

Those are two easy classes, suck it up and do well and don't worry about it. Don't drop..

Can you drop just one of them and still deal with the workload?

If it were me...

My #1 priority would be healing, so I would probably drop at least one class to lessen the stress load. My #2 priority would be getting the SOB who assaulted me. I would 100% press charges (as long as it's a relatively clear case).

Your application will not be damaged by dropping a class or two due to physical assault. You may be able to get incompletes in the classes and finish them in the summer if your school is flexible.

Drop the classes, get the SOB, and make sure you're healing.
