been accepted to KCU already which is a school I like, but admittedly it's the only one I've interviewed at.

I have invites to interview at PNWU, and both midwestern Arizona and Chicago.

I got the AZCOM invite a few days before I got the KCU acceptance so for that one I've already set everything up, but I haven't responded for the other two interviews.

The reason I'm considering not going to any of these interviews is that I don't really like PNWU's high emphasis on rural med.

I like both of the Midwestern schools but I really can't rationalize attending either of these schools given that they cost nearly an extra 20k per year. Money isn't too much of an issue for me, but taking on an additional 80k in debt just seems stupid to me, for essentially the same degree. How can midwestern rationalize charging so much extra for nothing?

I'm worried that I'm just wasting time and money by going to these interviews, but at the same time my only acceptance is at the only school I've actually interviewed at. KCU seems good but I have nothing to compare it against.

It's like falling in love with and marrying your first girlfriend, how do you know she's the one if you've never been with anyone else.

Does anyone have any advice for me?

Along with your advice, let me pose this question for you all: If money was no option, would you rather attend AZCOM, KCU, or CCOM?

If money was not an issue then you have other factors that are important. The weather in KC vs. Glendale, which one is closer to your home state and cheaper for you to fly back and forth. Location of rotations, this is because AZCOM makes you rank the locations you want to rotate at which can vary (East valley, west valley, Chicago, San Diego, LA area and Modesto), I am not sure if KCU does that. The school's emphasis on OMM, as it can be time consuming. Also, AZCOM runs a quarter system and students have a test almost every Monday, which can be a positive or negative thing based on your learning style.

What I did:

Attended every interview until I was accepted somewhere, then I picked and chose schools that I would definitely attend if accepted.

I ranked the schools I applied to in my own way, and if I got accepted to a school ranked higher on my list then I didn't attend interviews from schools below it in my ranking, just those higher.

+1 how i did and plan on continuing to do things.

Except instead of a hard and fast this school>that school, some schools I put into internally ranked tiers in terms of my preferences. So if they're objectively close, I'd give them a shot to "woo" me at the interview.

it might be helpful to write down what's specifically most important to you as a medical student and consider if KCU-COM ranks as top of your list for all of those compared to other invites you have.

just from your question, it sounds like a personality trait may be "what if." I felt the same way for a lot of my interviews and decided to attend them for that reason. in my opinion, knowing I made the best decision possible with no regrets was more important than the time/money I would save by not attending schools I was interested in.

PNWU does emphasize rural medicine, but their curriculum is pretty amazing as it's solid PF. their 100% match rate and smaller class size are also pretty amazing. but like I said, everyone's priorities are different and only you know what is most important to you since you're the one spending 3/4 years there.

Why wouldn't you attend???
1) Possibility of a scholarship
2) Possibility that you will like the school
3) Pressure-free travel

I guess you had a crap ton of $$$ for deposits, eh?

Lucky. LOL.

Well I mean, I may very well like the school, but that doesn't mean I'll attend it given how expensive it is. I know the possibility of scholarships exists but I won't know about those till after I've accepted the offer and declined all the other ones I have. It's a big risk I'd be taking I'd say I don't get any scholarships and am stuck footing a huge tuition bill.

That's my greatest fear

1. DO scholarships are extremely rare and I wouldn't bank on one. My friend had a 3.9+/514 and he didn't get offered one.

2. Very true. That is why if you have the money then going on as many interviews as you can will allow you to find the absolute best fit.

3. See the end of 2. I agree with pressure free travel but a lot of people can't afford to travel that much.

Basically I just wanted to say that I agree with you but that money is definitely a consideration for someone with a great acceptance already in hand.

If money isn't a factor, go for it. You never know what school you might fall in love with.

If money is a factor, like others said, only attend interviews at schools your are equally or more interested in attending compared to the school you've been accepted into.

And congrats on the II's and KCU acceptance!
