I just began my 3rd year at a private university and I am wondering if I should follow through with beginning the application process and taking the MCAT's in April or perhaps take extra courses or take a year off to improve my stats. Currently my overall GPA is 3.44 and science 3.42. Unfortunately, my 1st year my GPA was only a 3.0 but after that i slowly increased and made Dean's List the past two semesters. As far as EC's I am in AMSA and another club at school, big brothers and big sisters, and I'm an emergency volunteer, which I absolutely love. But my main concern is my GPA, although I know I can bring it well above a 3.5 by the end of this semester, and how I might do on the MCAT's. Any suggestions on what i should do?

i'm worried that I might get not accepted anywhere. it seems that everyone on this forum has amazing stats and i won't even have a chance lol

I think you should keep doing what you are doing. Your gpa is fine... and if you raise it to above 3.5, it'll be even better. What are you majoring in? A 3.4 in Psych is different from a 3.4 in engineering. Concentrate on your MCATs now & definitly start the process.

good luck :luck:

P.S. I have a 3.4 gpa, and I used to be really worried after looking at stats of people on this forum. But, don't worry! We get interviews and acceptances to. And people on this forum are NOT representative of the average applicant. Med Schools look at more than just your numbers (some of them anyways).

currently im majoring in biology with a minor in psychology. and thank you for your respones it makes me feel a lot better!
🙄

your gpa is low but give it a shot. everything pretty much hinges on the mcat..
