Hey guys, I would love your input. I was accepted at the University of Washington SOM last week. Yay! Yesterday, though, I received an interview invite from University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. What do you think? Should I even bother going to the interview? I've heard rave reviews about the school, which makes me wonder.

thanks for your input, Happy Holidays!

it's really all up to you. if you want to go to washington, and don't want to spend money travelling, then cancel the interview. if you're curious in the school and think you'd want to go there, and want to leave your options open and have cash to spare, then go for the interview. worst case situation is that they reject you and you go to u. of wash.

I'd say if you plan on going to UW already, then cancel the interview. UW is a great school, and if you are a resident, it's at a very cheap cost. I can't see many reasons to turn that down.......unless you're independently wealthy. Congrats on your acceptance!

Uof Min is an excellent school and I second the opinion that if you have some spare cash and want to satisfy your curiosity - then definitely go. If you do go, then you won't always wonder: should I have gone? 🙂

UMN is prohibitively expensive for non-residents, but is an excellent school and definitely worth taking a look at.

gick,

Are you a resident of Washington? If so, cancel the University of Minnesota interview and don't waste your time. However, if you're an Idaho resident, then reject the offer at UWSOM and fly out to Minnesota for the interview. I know an Idahoan that would give his left nut for an acceptance in the Idaho WWAMI class.

(I'll give you a hint....it's me.)

I'd say go interview. In the best possible case, you'd have two schools/locations to choose from and that's the kind of trouble you want to have.

In the worst case, congratulations anyway! Either way, your butt is covered.

I'd say go for it. You might change your mind after you visit. One of my state schools became my top 5 after I visited.
