Should I expand my schools or wait?

OK, I'm getting nervous b/c I applied to a lot of state schools, and not a single one of them has sent out secondaries yet! Should I use part of this thursday's pay check to apply to private schools, or just wait and see what the publics do in the next few weeks?
$ is the key thing here, 'cause it's not just $ to amcas, but $ for secondaries and all that jazz.

I would just wait. I just started getting invitations from state schools today.
