I saw a dentist today for horrible toothache that keeps me awake at night. x-ray showed dental abscess. I am already taking tylenol 1000mg q6h and ibuprofen 400mg q6h + lidocaine solution (old prescription - gi cocktail) and sorethroat spray. he gave clindamycin. referred me for root canal. should i not be getting opiates in addition? what are your experiences?

This is the student forum. We are not dentists . Most dentists would NOT prescribe opioids for this situation.
