Would you go to either of these schools over the schools where you're in?

I don't think anyone can say much new...as before, it depends on your preference for the schools you've been admitted to vs. the pending interviews, adjusted by cost, convenience, and fear :0

is ucsd a top choice for you?

are you instate? if you are i dont know what more you would want. plus waiting on stanford. unless you didnt like the feel of ucsd. then i would go.

if you are not instate...then yeah both are awesome school and i guess it all depends on what you are looking for in a med school. but once again. id go cause they are good.

Hey Doc,

Congrats on your interviews and acceptances. I agree with JLee.
And coming from someone who hasn't had any interviews, any interview seems to me to be a blessing in a loud red suit. I'd say go for it unless you're already in at your top choice.

i would go to Upitt. A ton of people go there and fall in love with the school. If it wasn't in Pittsburgh, I think it would be a lot better. But I wouldn't bother with Oregon.

I think this is a tough question...

On one hand I am inclined to say:
Definitely don't go if you think you would say yes to the school. If you are of the mindset that you wouldn't attend the school over schools that you have been accepted to then don't go to the interview. You would also open up slots for other applicants that are in the potential interview pile.

On the other hand:
I firmly believe that you don't know for sure if you would go to the school until you have been there. Thus, I would say go.

Go with your gut!

Congrats on the acceptances and all the interviews!

If you have too much Money and time and don't know what to do with them. UCSD by far the better school. 😎

I think you should also think about your priorities in terms of residency matching. OHSU is rated very highly (#2) right now for primary care; if you wanted to go into F.P./I.M., ect., you would be out of your mind not to think about OHSU

you have really awesome choices so you don't need to go...but i really liked pitt when i interviewed there. i think its one those schools that doesn't get talked about much but is a good school. they don't go on rolling until after jan i believe. so may be you should wait for a bit and see if here from any of the other schools first. but if i had the money, then i would definitely go to the pitt interview.

Definitely drop U Miami, BU, Georgetown. There is no way in hell you're going to go to these schools over a UC so let the other people have the spot. I would not go to Pitt either, but that's just me. I definitely liked it more than UCI, but like Jalby said there's the whole "Pittsburgh vs. Socal" thing to consider, not to mention tuition. My student interviewer was someone who dropped Pitt when he got into UCI. I didn't understand why he would do that, but now I can relate a little. I heard and I keep hearing bad things from UCSD. I don't know what's up with that school.

Go for at least the UPitt interview if cost isn't a concern for you. I was really surprised with that school.

Having interviewed at Yale, Harvard, Hopkins, UPenn, Cornell, UCSF, UCLA, UCSD, etc. etc., and having been accepted to medical school, I decided to cancel my UC Davis, UC Irvine, and Emory interviews. Those 3 institutions are wonderful in their own right, but they are not what I believe to be right for me. If you can make a decision as to what schools best suit your needs, prior to having visited them for interviews, then that is always an option that will spare you unnecessary uses of resources and expenditures of valuable time. However, those are decisions that you should feel comfortable making in your own right, based upon your knowing yourself, your needs and your personal desires, however whimsical they might be...

doctorkevin,

congrats on your acceptances! uci and ucsd are both awesome schools that offer a great environment to spend the next four years. so cal rocks! congrats again!

imo, it depends entirely on how important cost is to you. i was skeptical of pitt but really liked it when i interviewed there. pittsburgh isn't that bad and the school is a really high-powered academic center. they have a great curriculum and have the best simulation center that i've seen at any school.

i think sd is definitely a better school than uci but just like previous people have said, i've heard bad things about it.

ditto raincrew and SP about UCSD. Heard a new one from an MS II there on Saterday.
