I've read on here that you should only include volunteering experiences from your 4 years of undergrad on your med school app. I'm a slightly non traditional applicant in that I started college at age 20 instead of right out of high school. In the three summers between graduating hs and starting college I volunteered with a group that put on English Language summer camps for kids in an Eastern European country. The focus was to teach English through games, skits, and stuff like that. Each trip was about 6 weeks long and I payed my own way. I would really like to include this experience in my app. Advice?

Read the rules carefully. IIRC, only experiences after you began undergrad can be included. If so, it sounds like something nice you can save for a secondary or for a point in your PS.

There is no "rule". You can list anything you wish. The general recommendation is not to include things that happened while you were in high school. Stuff that you did after you graduated from HS, particularly if you had a gap between HS and college, can be included.

@Judson, under your "rule", an applicant who served 3 years in the Marines before attending college would have to leave that off the application. That would be nuts!

Excellent, thank you both for your input!
