i finished with a bachelor's in economics with a 2.6 gpa.. however, it did NOT include any science classes outside of like electives like geology and anatomy/physiology, so i started taking science classes for med school and i'm all done with the prereqs which the exception of organic chem 1 (which i'm taking now) and orgo 2 (which i will take in the spring of 2006, while i get ready for the mcat).. so far, i've gotten straight A's and my science gpa is about 3.7 (because i didnt do so great in geology and anat/phys).. i've got my overall gpa up to a 2.9.. the problem is that HYPOTHETICALLY, if i get A's in organic 1 and organic 2, i dont think my overall gpa will eclipse the 3.0-gpa barrier...
after this spring, i'll be completely done with prereqs and everything i'll need-- but should i get another degree? i'm kind of interested in getting a nutrition degree for personal satisfaction (because i'm generally interested in that stuff), in an attempt to take extra classes and try to get my gpa up above 3.0.. but my problem is that the process would take about 2 yrs, and i'm afraid that i might not finish what i've started if i get into a med school somewhere.. but then again, if i dont get into med school on the 1st cycle, it will give me something to do the 2nd cycle.. is it unreasonable to assume that i wont get somewhere with a 2.9 overall and a 3.5+ science gpa, and assuming in avg mcat (25) ?
