Should I list an EMT class on AMCAS?

I am on a waiting list to get into an EMT class for the fall semester. I have a good chance of getting into the class, according to the person in the advising office. Should I list this as one of the classes I'll be taking next semester, or should I just send an update if I end up getting into the class?

I'd say add it. They should realize that when you're listing future courses, it's just a guess of what you'll be taking, and it could change. You could add classes, drop classes, classes could be canceled on the before the first day, stuff like that. Future coursework is just to guage what you'll be doing your senior year, since it's that year where you get to choose your own electives in your major so you can go with it where you want to rather than taking prescribed carriculum courses. If you don't get into it, you don't need to send a letter to every school saying you didn't, but if you feel awkward about it, you can always explain it in person to the schools that call you in for an interview.

The EMT class alone on your transcript probably won't help you much anyways. You need to do something with it, and it seems you aren't going to have a whole lot of time after finishing in order to get any significant experience. Applicants that have simply completed the EMT course are a dime a dozen. You may reconsider even bothering, since you'll be in med school before you know it, unless you want to be involved in EMS as a doc...

Only add the EMT class on your transcript section if it is at an accredited school (e.g., a vocational/technical school, community college, etc.). Make sure it's not a continuing education class where you will get no official transcript. I wouldn't list the class if you're going to attend a private or hospital training program.

Either way, you should take the time to write about your plans in your personal statement.

I took an EMT class a few summers ago and got a grade for it. However, it was at a university other than the one I attended. Should I add it to my list of courses on my AMCAS app, even though it's more of a vocational course and has nothing to do with my undergrad path of study? I definitely wouldn't mind the GPA boost, but I figured an admissions committee would look at that score and think that I was trying to inflate my GPA. Any thoughts?

Actually, this is quite straightforward. Only one real answer, YES.

I went through a lot of trouble trying to figure this out, and there is no question that you HAVE to list it. As a matter of fact, make sure you send a copy of that separate transcript both to AMCAS and to your actual medschool once you matriculate.
