Should I list GRE on AMCAS?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
MD PhD applicant for sure, MD only (or not applying to any dual degree), maybe...

If you have a lower MCAT, I would say it can not hurt you

If that is considered a good GRE score, then by all means include it. If not, then dont.

I should have been clearer, is this a good enough score to include?

I'm not MD PhD or anything like that.

I wouldn't include it. It's only a 98+ percentile score for each section. Any premed can get that.

Ppl may question your motivation behind taking GRE if you are not seeking dual degree. "Is this person seeking grad school as a back up?"

It's for MD-Ph.D students and other dual degree programs like MD-MPH. If you're applying MD only and you list it, you will just look like someone desperately trying to show off.

For what it's worth, I did better on the MCAT than the GRE, especially the biochem subject GRE. I think I just took it a lot more seriously and studied way more because everyone talked about how serious it was.

I mean, I'm in grad school, so I don't think that's quite it.

This is what I was looking for. Thank you.

Lol yea I don't know if you are being serious with this. I was being sarcastic.

You have a really high score. It doesn't really matter if you put it on your app or not. If they ask why you took it, say I wanted to make a more informed decision before I was sure I wanted to be a doctor.

Oh... now I feel silly because I was serious. I am in grad school starting september, so it's pretty obvious why I took it. I just didn't know if my percentiles were good enough to list, given the GRE is usually easier than the MCAT.

Then there is no harm in listing it whatsoever.

if its a good score, why not?

AMCAS now has a "other" test score section, where it gives the example of listing the GRE. It looks like it's completely optional, but I'm debating whether to include mine. I scored 170/168/5.5 on Math, verbal, and writing respectively and used my scores to get into respectable graduate programs, but I'm doubting their relevance to med school applications.

That is a phenomenal test score, when I applied I used my GRE score, HOWEVER There was a prominent part of my personal statement discussing how I found out grad school wasent for me. So if you have something like that, then go ahead, if not, you might come off as a brown nose. My two cents, for what it's worth

I'm in grad school (starting fall), so there's no reason to list why I took the GRE, because it's assumed. I guess there's just no good reason for me to do it and no good reason not to, so I'm not certain which side to err on.
Ok well then can it really hurt you?

Looking like a brown noser?
Eh, seems legit since you used it for something, best case scenario they give you a thumbs up, worst case scenario it gets ignored, it's not like you, for example, took the LSAT and used that number, just because you could, you get me?
