Hey guys
I have been accepted to my third choice school and am still waiting to hear from the first choice and it is still early in the cycle. I have until Oct 1st to make the deposit for my third choice.

Should I make the deposit now and if I get accepted to my first choice then call and tell them that I will not be attending? I never thought I would be in a situation where I would have trouble deciding if I should make the deposit or not?

I am scard that If i make the deposit, then what if my first choice school knows that I am holding a seat somewhere else and they dont accept me? 😕

If I were you, I would call the school and see if they can give you an extension. Tell them it is still early in the cycle and you are waiting to hear back from some schools/interviews. Sometimes, they'll give you an extension.

The way my pre-health adviser explained it to me was basically yes the other schools will know but they should understand that your just looking out for your own interests. They know you applied to other schools, they would expect you to do that. Would you rather wait for your first choice and not go to any school if by chance you don't get in. The way I see it, accept at least one offer other than your first choice then wait it out for your first choice. I would rather go to a school than no school. If you deny a school than re-apply next year, there's no reason for them to accept you again when you already rejected them. Plus it looks good that you applied to multiple schools because it shows them you're serious and the real question is are you serious enough to go to any school you get accepted to whether its the one you want. Hopefully that helps.

Lots of people put deposits down regardless. It's only a few bucks in the grand scheme if you decide to go elsewhere.
