So I made an earlier post about taking the DAT in 3 weeks but I wanted to get as many opinions as possible for this post.

I originally wanted to take the DAT January 5 or 6 while I am at home for winter break. Unfortunately, the spot filled up and I had to register for January 9. I am flying back to florida on january 8 at 5 am and the test is the next day on the 9 at 8 am but it is 45 minutes away from where I go to school so I would have a long drive in Florida traffic and I also am hoping I will not be affected by the ride back and my tiredness.

I decided to just check on prometrics for the heck of it to see what the availability was and I saw there was a spot at the time I wanted, 8 am on January 5, at a location near home.

What are your guys' opinions on whether I should move the test up or not? I don't feel too ready at this point right now but I feel that I may be able to get ready by the 5th. I just don't want to pay the fee and realize I'm screwed on the 5th or have any bad luck.

Thank you guy, much appreciated!

Also, I am unsure of how to gage whether or not I will be ready or not and if I do move it up, I would have to do it now otherwise the spot will fill up

I personally would move it if it doesn't cost too much. You might be too tired and jet lagged and not be able to perform well on the test if your flight is that early the day before your schedule date.

I would consider moving it back if you can find a date that results in a less stressful test taking experience/commute.

Personally, I don't think 4 days will do much CONTENT wise BUT I feel that test taking is just as much about state of mind/performance as it is about content/knowledge.

However, at the end of the day you are the best judge of your ability. Some people perform well in tight/rushed circumstances and some do not.

You think if I get chads videos today to fill in the gaps I'm missing for Chem and then just rip through Destoryer and bootcamp, I can be ready by the 5th?

I don't know I think that's something you have to decide. Use the bootcamp tests to determine if you are ready or not, my last bootcamp test was 24 so it was only one point off from my actual score.

Only you can make the call whether you're ready or not. I agree that DAT Bootcamp tests are a good indicator of you're preparations (except PAT). I wouldn't "rip through" Destroyer tho. It's really useful if you don't treat it like practice tests and more like study questions. Focus on understanding on why you got each right and wrong. Destroyer also help me find the areas I was weak in. For Biology, I did 50 questions per day for 12 days and 2 days off, which gives you 2 weeks to complete it. Using this as a time judgement, I'd probably push back your test to a later date.

Don't take the test when you are tired, money is nothing compared to your future, postpone it until you have rested from your trip.and in the test mode again. Is there a chance you can find a test center that is closer to you? Can you make the test at noon, so you don't have to wake up early for the 45 minutes drive?

Unfortunately that's the closest to me and that's the only available date. Everything else is filled up. I'm not saying I will be tired and all but I'm saying there may be a chance it happens. I'm planning on going to bed early the night before
