Lately, my dog has been acting up. It seems like he humps everything that comes in sight 😀 . Is this just a stage of the dog development period? Or should I seriously consider taking him to the vet and get him neutered? :luck:

Well, you should "seriously consider" getting him neutered for all the other reasons for neutering--controlling pet overpopulation, reducing later health risks, reducing the "must-run-out-and-breed-whatever-comes-along-and-then-get-hit-by-a-car" drive.

A pet animal that is not part of a *responsible* breeding program should be neutered.

I would seriously consider getting him neutered. There are many health benefits that go a long with neutering. One of the health benefits being that your dog will not develop testicular cancer. Southerncomfort makes an excellent point. All animals that are not part of a *responsible* breeding program should be spayed or neutered. There are too many health problems out there to not get them spayed or neutered. The neutering will also help calm him down some. Right now, his hormones are out of control because he has this urge to breed anything and everything he sees. Once he's neutered, it will take a couple of months to get the hormones out of his system, but it will be well worth it.

Yes, you should neuter him. He will live a longer and healthier life.

Plus if you don't neuter him you have two choices: let him breed and add more puppies to the millions who are already being killed in shelters and on the streets every year, or spend the rest of his life suppressing his natural instincts. The latter is unfair; the former is cruel.

Neutering your pet is a key part of responsible pet guardianship/ownership. It's not an optional "extra". Call the vet tomorrow (or Monday if they're closed for the holiday) and make an appointment.
