In the last year, my family has had 11 medical school graduates. However none of them are my siblings or parents. All my cousins, uncle and aunts are doctors but my parents are both engineers and my oldest sibling is a dentist. A little over a year ago, my grandma passed away in Pakistan and before she passed, it was her dream to see a hospital or school named after her or my grandfather. So from that day I have made it a commiment to make her dream come true. After, months and months of sleepless nights, hard work and constant trips to Pakistan, This past weekend we were finally able to achieve our goal. We made a hospital and a free clinic along with a free all girls school in Pakistan.
I funded most of the project, spent nights on the phone with people in Pakistan trying to arrange this the best I could. The school has registered 250 girls and the clinic is seeing 70/80 people on a daily basis. I was wondering if I go back to Pakistan and shadow or help out there would that look good on my application at all? Should I add this accomplishment to my app as well?
I'm sorry if this comes off a bit cocky or proud, I'm just super excited and happy because this has been months in the making and to see it come from nothing has been huge for me.
