Right now i have a dental assistant job, which i been doing ~6 month (part-time) now. At the beginning, I take the yelling as a part of the job, recently for some reason the dentist I am working for is being an ass yelling at for no reason wat so ever, blaming me for everything going wrong or slow. The only reason i didn't quit this job because I don't have much dental experiences, before this job I only have around 65hrs or so. Now to this pt of the application should i quit my job n try to get a new dentist to work for? But I have put that I working for them in the application already.
Bad thing about the job: $7.15 per hr, yelling like crazy, unstable hr: sometime over 10hrs a day, and some 2-3hrs, need to do everything u can positively think of.
Should I?

Yeah, quit. You've already applied, and have tons of dental experience. Plus it sounds like a terrible job and you're getting paid as much as a burger flipper... that's ridiculous man. Dental assistants usually get paid at least $12/hr

yes, i would quit. if youre in it for a LOR as well...the likelihood of them writing you a good one is probably low. i wouldnt quit until you have another job lined up though.

as for the money aspect..i agree with the poster above..10-12$ is pretty standard for us students..and in my experience so far..you're not really evaluated for a raise..you just stay with what you start with

dude.. Cashiers in grocery stores make as much as you do as a dental assistant.

Now that you've got the experience, it's time to find a new job. Get out of there!

It is important that you work alongside someone who believes that you are capable. If someone is always talking down to you and blaming you, then that means he/she does not think much of you. There are other dentists that you could shadow. Remember, your goal is to become a dentist not a dental assistant. I suggest that you shadow or volunteer in another office where there is not as much pressure. Go in person to the other offices, introduce yourself, state an interest in dentistry, and see if you could arrange to meet the dentist. Use your experience to make sure that you do not repeat whatever mistakes you made at the first job. Some individuals are very enthused when they see that the younger generation is interested in being a contributor to the health of the community moreso than others. I recommend that you shadow other dentists, volunteer, and asks them for advice for your future. In terms of employment, I am sure you can find a job at your university that is not stressful and pays for some of your expenses. Oh and by the way, 65 hours of dental experience is adequate for most schools.

don't mess up and you won't get yelled at. Sometimes yelling isn't the most desirable criticism, but you know it's probably the most effective way to recognize your mistakes so you don't do them again. I highly doubt your dentist is yelling at you for no reason and I haven't met any dentists that don't yell at their dental assistants once in a while. Imagine if you're a successful dentist and your dental assistant doesn't completely clean a bur or your doctor sees a dirty scaler in his recall setup....personally, I'd be pissed off because that could get ME in trouble if my patient saw that. Don't quit because the dentist is yelling at you that's lame, although $7.15/hr is really small...seems like you've made up your mind, but I think you should keep that in mind for your next job.

QUIT!!! I worked for a dentist who saw TONS of patients. He was very busy, but overall pretty nice--but, I still got paid crap. Had to get out of there...if I was going to sacrifice study time for a job, it at least needed to be able to pay some bills. You have the experience, if you're looking for a recommendation letter..it doesn't seem like you'd get a good one here any way. Save yourself the headache and find another job. Good luck!!

My dentists do blame me, whatever there is a dirty equip or improper setup out of the 3 assistants for some reason he always go after me. Let say I haven't been to work for 3 days, first day back first patient the equip is not right, it must be me, even know I haven't touch the patient's info was so ever, while i was doing paperwork, he would say "he did it right?". The reason I couldn't make up my mind is that there is 2 dentists in the office one is nice and the other is the ....

Maybe he yells at you all the time because you may be the nearest to him when he notices imperfection. Maybe he yells at the other DA's when you are not around.
