Hi,
Thank you for reading my post. Please give me some opinions. Thank you so much!
Last application, I got
oGPA 3.41.
sGPA 3.19.
DAT 21 with nothing under 23 except for reading (19).
1 research project, 4000+hrs of shadowing (5 dentists and 1 dental lab), 300+hrs community service, president of a drawing club, 1 yrs paid working at 2 dental offices, 4yrs tutoring (I also helped my brother improve from 15 to 21 on his DAT).
I applied late August. I had 1 LOR from a professor and 3 others from dentists.
Western CA, NYU, and Tufts MA rejected because they wanted 2 professor letters. (I contacted them)
Nova, Meharry, UCONN rejected with general reason.
MOSDOH, MWUIL rejected due to classfull
Touro, MWUAZ,ASDOH interviewed and waitlisted me.

This year, I have 2 research awards, 2 research projects, 5000+hrs of shadowing (9 dentists, specialist, and 1 dental lab), 500+hrs community service, president of a drawing club still, 2yrs paid working at 2 dental offices, 5yrs tutoring. And 2LORs from 2 professors and 2 from 1 new dentist1 old dentists.
Should I do postbacc and retake my DAT?
Or can I reapply early? Please give me suggestions on what I can do to increase my chance!

Thank you so so so much! Good luck with you all

I think the stats and ECs/shadowing you have should be sufficient already. You received 3 interviews, and were rejected right off the bat from 3 schools for an easy fix (2 prof. letters). I think some additional practice and/or more preparation for the interviews will help tremendously. Definitely apply much earlier and perhaps at a few more schools, but being a reapplicant at some of those schools may be advantageous.

Thank you so much, TeethAreMyThing!
Do you know any school I can apply to this time? Thank you so much again!

No clue why all you increased was shadowing and community service. Having 40000000 hours of those have serious diminishing returns imo. Should have just retaken the DAT and saved some time or do a postback because I can almost guarantee the adcoms weren't saying "hmm this guys good but I think he needs 5000 hours of shadowing instead of 4000. Also 300 hrs community service is just not enough these days".

Idk I averaged my score and it came out to be 23 but when i asked, they said that AA isn't always the average. I wish it was the average :p

Ah I get it. You probably got like 19-20 on Bio or something, 21s on ochem and chem, and like a 28 on QR or something. Some sections aren't worth as much

Thank you for your opinion. Can I ask how many hours of community service is enough?

at a certain point, those extra fluffs are just cherries on top instead of app changing criteria. I would say 100 hours shadowing and like 100-200 hrs comm service is enough for dental.

Ah. Do you have any suggestion on what postbacc program I should go to?
no I'm not sure of those, I can just see that your extracurriculars are not your problems

Yeah I know my extracurriculars are not my problems, but I just don't know if they help with my mediocre stats.
Thank you, Medin2017!

It's a bit late now, but I would say it would have been better to have volunteered a bit on the side (to show you were still consistently making an effort) while prepping for the DAT, since it's not that daunting a test if you don't have much going on
