Hello. I'm probably facing a C or possible C- in molecular genetics. I'm currently at a 3.686 as my GPA. I have to get almost 100% to even get a B- in the class. I'm doing so well in the discussion portion with an A-, and that counts 30% in the course. I'm just not satisfied how I'm doing in the lecture portion, and I know I could have done a lot better. Would it be best to just retake it?

I had to drop a genetics course exactly 1 year ago and take the W. Took it freshman year (now a soph) and was unprepared for that level of rigor. I switched my major to chem (where it could count for a potential elective) to bio (where it was a mandatory course). I'm wondering should I retake it during junior year so as to not look like I copped out? Hmmmm, I would love an opinion or two...

No, it wont be that helpful. Its not a required prereq nor will it raise your GPA by that much. You may be better off simply taking another advanced course or just let it alone. In terms of time, money, resources, better off with working towards MCAT.

If you are going at all towards a DO route, then a retake would be a more useful option

Might be worth it to take a W if you have that option, provided you don't already have a few.

I'm already auditing organic chemistry II and retaking it over the summer. It's already past the final drop date, so that's not an option anymore. I guess I should just stick with the grade and try to aim high in all my other classes?
