Stats, experience, and volunteering all look good, but the 16 QR may hold you back from some schools or disqualify your application from their program. I would check the minimum requirements for each of those schools and remove any that would be a waste of money. I think you have a shot at getting interviews, but a DAT retake would probably be worth it if you do end up reapplying.

sGPA?

Your stats aren't terrible by any means. Although QR is a bit low, overall DAT and GPA are pretty average.

You have very good experience.

With a good personal statement, you definitely have a shot.

Should you retake the DAT?

Yes, you definitely should retake the DAT.

I think it's a little tricky. It's a good idea to check schools if they have cutoffs.
however, QR is the least important section and I've seen some people at crazy good schools get interviews with a 16 or 15 QR.
ur GPA is good. if you EC's, experiences, and LOR's are good (make sure you write good PS) you might have a chance to get some interviews from some schools.
if you retook and did better (avoid the really low scores in a section) you wolnd't have to worry about that

You have a good chance at a few of the schools you're applying to. UF and VCU might want a higher DAT, but the rest of the schools are fine.

Is VCU even worth it to apply if you are OOS. They accept 66-70 instate and only 30-35 OOS

Thank you! As far as I know, the cutoff is 15 for UF, but I haven't been able to find a minimum for the other schools. I think I will wait it out until November and see if I get any interviews, but if not, I will probably retake it.

Thanks so much for the feedback! My science GPA is a 3.59, Overall I have an upward trend (3.87 my last year taking 16-18 credits). I have a pretty strong letter of rec from a pre-professional advisor at my school who also helped me work on my PS. The DAT score is what's really killing me in my opinion. I guess I will wait it out a little longer and see if I get any interviews before I sign up to retake it.

Ah yeah I think everything else about my application will work in my favor, except that QR score. I have 3 LORs from science faculty, two who I did research with, and one who is the pre-professional advisor. He also helped me work on my personal statement. I have a fourth letter from a general dentist who I did the majority of my shadowing with. Thanks so much for the feedback! I will see what happens in the next couple of months and keep the info fresh in my mind in case I have to retake it.

Yeah I agree. Those are two very prestigious schools, so I would be ecstatic to get an interview. I just hope that everything else on my app is sufficient enough to land an interview at any of the other schools. Thanks for the feedback!
