Should I retake the DAT? Please Help!!! :(

Hi, I am a new member of the sdn forum. I already graduated with chemistry major and biology minor.

I took the DAT today, but I am not sure whether this score is okay or not.

PA 21
QR 21
RC 18
Bio 17
Gc 22
Oc 20
TS 19
AA 20

And these are my stat...

GPAo: 3.68 (with Spanish transfer credit) / GPA (BCPM): 3.55

Activities:
Several shadowing and volunteer hours
Historian of Multicultural Council
Research experience in the dental school
Global Dental Brigades - Honduras
National Society of Leadership and Success
3rd place winner in ADEA 2012 GoDental Video Contest for Pre-dental student

I am worrying about the 17 bio score because I got C on bio 1 and B on bio 2 (even though I got better grades on upper biology classes such as genetics, cell biology, and physiology).

Should I retake the DAT in August or September and then apply?

or... Should I apply first and then retake the DAT?

or... May I apply with this DAT score?


P.S. I didn't take Anatomy and Microbiology... will this affect my chances of getting accepted in dental schools?

Please please give me any suggestions or comments!!!

I would be hesitant to tell you to retake unless you are incredibly confident you can do better. A 17 is somewhat low however its not awful and with the scores you made on everything else it all kind of evens out. With the stats you have I would say you have a pretty decent shot. Just do some research and find out which schools have stats that are in line with yours and apply to them. You could even call the schools you are applying to and ask them about it if you are really worried about it. And no, having not taken anatomy or micro will not affect your chances unless a school requires them and even then you can take them before you matriculate if need be.
