Should I retake the DAT??

I took the DAT 2 days ago and Im not sure what to make of my scores. It seems like the a 20 AA is now the minimum score you should get to be considered by dental schools and everyone around me has been getting 21+ AA. My current gpa is 3.57 and I am working towards bringing that up this semester. ( I want to apply during this cycle)

I feel like i had all the right resources but didn't use them to their full potential-especially for PAT and GC( I was very disappointed with that score because I went in thinking GC would be my best section) My plan was to study during the winter break but I overestimated my ability to focus at home. Ive been hot and cold with my feelings towards my scores because I went in expecting to do a lot worse on RC, BIO and even PAT. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Solid score - especially RC. I wouldn't retake it. Keep in mind that the average for acceptance to dental school means that high scores and low scores get in. SDN always has people with high scores.

Just make sure the rest of your application is line as far as volunteering, shadowing, and extracurriculars go.

Do not retake-- we have very similar scores, and I had multiple acceptances. Provided you are good at interviews, I'd say you're set!

hmmmm this is a tough call whether to retake

id talk to your academic advisor in undergrad and ask what they think and go from there

You have a good chance at plenty of schools. The only ones that may be a bit of a reach are the ones with extremely high stats.

I had pretty much the exact same stats applying as you. 3.6x OGPA, 3.4x SGPA and 20AA/24RC/21TS I thought I was an okay applicant but in the end I got 7 interviews and that's actually not bad for someone with average stats like me.. so do NOT. Just keep racking up EC's and enrichment etc etc before the app.
