Should I retake?

First post here and looking for some advice. I just ended my second year of college. Really rough year: my mother has been sick since December. I needed a second job to provide for my mother, brother and I. Things got worse and worse so I needed a third job (mother going into surgery next this month).
I consider myself a pretty strong person and I've always though personal issues only affect us based on how we let them. I realized I was totally wrong.
Bottom line, I got a C+, C in two requirements (Calc 2, Orgo 2), GPA now 3.69. Should I retake both classes?

I wouldn't retake. Given the circumstances, I think they will be impressed that you didnt withdraw or fail a course. You can also address the Cs on your application so they know.

There is a section at the beginning of the application that you can use to address things like financial hardships by providing a statement.

Also, I wouldn't waste your personal statement to talk about these issues, so you aren't being redundant.

If you gonna retake, retake Orgo 2. Calc 2 is not prerequisite for many schools. Retaking Orgo 2 will make you stronger in Orgo for the DAT.
I am so sorry about your mother, I hope she is better now. You are an amazing son ( or daughter!) !

Agree with Faefly, if you did, Orgo 2 would be the one to retake. However, 3.69 is totally fine, I wouldn’t even worry about it, caveat being if your science GPA is significantly lower than that. Finish another semester or two and see how you’re doing before you waste time/money retaking a difficult class you already passed.

Hope you mom is doing better and prayers for a full recovery, life can be tough at times, but what we get through can also make us stronger. If you have a 3.69 GPA with those 2 C's it shows you are a great student. I definitely would not retake Calc, if you considered a retake possibly Orgo 2. When are you taking the DAT?

Hope you mom is doing better and prayers for a full recovery, life can be tough at times, but what we get through can also make us stronger. If you have a 3.69 GPA with those 2 C's it shows you are a great student. I definitely would not retake Calc, if you considered a retake possibly Orgo 2. When are you taking the DAT?

Thank you so much for your words of encouragement, made me feel really good. I think I'll follow ab117, I'll finish up next year and then see if I should retake Orgo. I'm taking the DAT next Summer. Hopefully, everything gets better by then.
