Here is my situation: I bought a 2006 copy of Remington: The Science and Practice of Pharmacy last year. I know it will be at least 3 years from now that I am actually in pharmacy school. Will this book be outdated by then, forcing me to sell this one anyway to buy a new one? Will I even need to own this book in pharmacy school?

It's required at my school (Kentucky) but I do not know how often a new edition is issued!

Haha, Why on earth did you buy it so early? How do you even know you'll get in to pharmacy school? waste of money imo..

The current edition is the 21st. My prof doesn't care if you use any recent edition. New editions come out every five years or so.

Yeah - don't sell it. I still use mine & I bought it 30 yrs ago. It doesn't change too much & you'll have newer reference books when you go to school - Don't buy them now though!!!!!!

Sell it. It was a "required" reference at my school too. One of my profs P1 year said, "it is the bible of pharmacy and you will use it in every class." Well here I am, almost done with all my classes and I've never even opened the damn thing.

Hah. I just found my dad's remington pcol book (as opoosed to his rifle/shotgun) from 30 years ago. Propranolol was the new hot thing back then...

Keep yours unless you can sell the book for what you paid for it. BTW, some schools use Goodman and Gilman's, so you might be SOL anyways.

A lot of people in my class say they do not use it, but I use it a lot as a reference. I am sure it does not change too much so I would keep it!

if you bought a 2006 copy like I did, there is a flyer included for a FREE CD version of the book. Im selling my book and keeping the CD, esp since we have laptops and it is a lot easier to cart around.

Just curious, for those of you that said to keep this book for a reference. How often do you use it? And when you do, what kind of things are you looking up?

I've got one that I'm thinking about selling because I've yet to use it, but I'm wondering if I'm missing out on a good resource.
