i applied to an MD through their early decision process but got difffered to RD last week.

I hear that they send out a lot of interviews starting next week tho, i was wondering if it would be a good time to write something to them?

i havent really dont much in just one week, so i guess thats one con,

also from my understanding, you send LOI (letter of intrest or intent) after you are waitlisted from an interview

but what do you guys think? could it possibly negativley effect me that i am seding out a LOI (letter of intrest or intent) so early?
I hear from some of my friends who got accepted to that school to send out a LOI right now

I can't speak to a specific medical school's preference, but as a general rule, if you applied early decision to a school, they already know you are very interested in their school. When you were informed that you were deferred to regular decision, you could have replied back with a 1-2 line response thanking them for their time and further consideration and left it at that.

In general, it's also way too early to send a LOI especially when you have nothing else to say. It's also August, most of their interview slots and acceptances are still up for grabs. If you haven't heard from them in a few months, e.g. late November-December, then send them a major update email (which can take the form of a letter of interest), but I would strongly recommend against sending them numerous update emails, which is more likely to hurt than help. No one likes a needy applicant/student.*

* Of course, if you were explicitly told by the admissions committee that they actually do like LOIs immediately after a ED deferral, then by all means, give them what they want. But otherwise, they have better things to do with their time. There are some schools that are anecdotally more receptive to LOIs, but even then, LOIs should be reserved for much later in the application cycle. Just my thoughts.
