Hi everyone,

I need some advice...

I applied to 4 schools: Nova, MCPHS, PCO and SCCO. I got interviews to all the schools (I declined the interview at SCCO). My first interview came from NOVA and I was accepted within a couple days, but at that time, PCO was my first choice and I thought I had pretty good chances of getting accepted so I declined NOVA's offer. After interviewing at PCO, I got wait listed and the chances of getting in are looking pretty slim right about now. I still have an acceptance offer from MCPHS but I'm not sure if I want to accept. They are offering me a substantial scholarship but being that they are a new and unaccredited school, I'm not sure if its worth the risk.

If I don't accept the MCPHS offer, I would have to wait a whole other year (I already took a year off since undergrad) to apply again to other schools, which I am not thrilled about.

Any advice? I would especially like to hear what the students of MCPHS have to say about their experiences!

Thanks 🙂

Well I hate to say it but it was stupid to decline an admission with "a feeling" you'll get another, also not taking the interview from SCCO to begin with. But it's your decision to reapply vs. go to a brand new unaccredited and super expensive school in a state where you can't even treat glaucoma? I dunno, I would bug PCO first. It's only June.

Or get on your hands and knees to NOVA to try and be like #1 on their waitlist.

Think about your finances seriously would be my best advice. Does it look like MCPHS will get accredited? What would happen if you went there and it didn't get accredited? (I actually don't know a lot about this or about that school.) Have you talked to current MCPHS students? Talk to as many as you can.

NOVA has mandatory attendance from what I hear. Are you okay with that? Have you spoken to students there? I know someone at NOVA who actually really likes it there.

As far as having PCO as your top choice, I don't even know what to say. Could you in any way explain why you turned down a school in the hopes of getting in to PCO?

If PCO is somewhere you really want to go, then I think it is worth to wait another year. You don't want to be stuck for 4 years at a school that you dislike. But if you really want to be in school and not take a break in between, then you should pay for the deposit for MCPHS just incase you don't get accepted at PCO. But if you do, then you'll lose the deposit money but that's not so bad.

Chances might be low, but maybe you can call NOVA and tell them that you made a mistake.

For what it's worth, I took 2 years off and worked and its nbd. I didn't apply twice, though. I'm also a nova student and the attendance policy isn't completely enforced, just on a professor by professor basis, and most are pretty lax.
