My cGPA is 3.648 and my BCPM GPA is 3.444.

I know I am not where I should be for MD schools, but I want to apply anyways to both MD & DO schools. I have a lot of extracurricals (clinical experience, volunteer work, leadership, charity work etc).

I am taking my MCAT this July/August.

Is it bad to try and apply to MD schools even if I know I may not get in? What I mean is, with my low GPA and non-existent MCAT, I know I may be rejected. Will it look bad if I reapply to the same school next year?

Also, Should I submit my app as soon as June comes along or wait until my MCAT score is in? I plan on getting a 30+.

Thanks!

submit june 1 b/c it will take 4-6 weeks for transcripts to verify, you don't want to wait till you get your scores back or it will delay the process even longer, this will require that you pick 1 DO school to send your app to so that your app will process. once you get your score back, you can apply to as many as you like!

I was in a similar position because I wasn't sure if I should apply and let med schools see my app with holes AND a non-stellar GPA. I personally decided to wait only because I needed the orog class to comeplete everything. I sort of wish that I had applied becauase now I'm basically waiting another cycle OR I apply late. It was a risk to wait and I think I was on the losing end!

I agree with drshark. You will still have 4-6 weeks for everything to solidify, so do it now and it will end up all coming together just in time!

Wait to submit so you don't hurt my chances. Jokes aside, just submit it and make sure your MCAT score gets added.

um your gpas arent terrible at all for MD school. assuming your mcat is good as well as your ECs I dont see a reason why you wouldnt get into an MD.

apply to one school to get your app verified then add other schools. You arent bad at all for MD, get a 30+ mcat score and youll make it I say.

3.44 is on the low end. He'd need a pretty high MCAT score to help it.

doesnt it cost more to add schools on different occasions? i.e. its cheaper to just add all your schools when initially submitting?

OP has similar average statistics for many MD schools. Combine your GPA with a 30+ MCAT, solid ECs, rec letters, and good PS, you will be fine. I know many people who have been accepted to MD this year with lower stats than that.
