Hello all,
So spring quarter has just recently started and i'm in the third, and final sequence of general chemistry. However, I haven't gotten off to the best start.
my average for the online homework is hovering around an 80%, and my recitation quiz average is about a 35% (only had two so far, and got 3/10 and 4/10 on them) but no exam yet (i have one friday though..) the point has passed to withdraw without it being put on my record, so if i do withdraw, i will have a W.

the thing is, I need atleast a C average of the sequence to "pass" the gen chem section, and my last two quarters have been a D and a C. so i need a really good grade to make the average..

should i take the W (but continue with lab) and retake the course in the summer (3 wks long)?

p.s. my advisor is of no help whatsoever, which is why i'm here..

Take this with a grain of salt, but:

I would withdraw if I were you. With a D and a C already, you don't want to do any more GPA damage that you'll have to repair later. In fact, unless you're confident you can pull an A, I would drop... and I would take a little break from the class (don't take it over the summer unless you feel very ready to do much better). Good luck. :luck:

EDIT: Didn't read carefully. Try your hardest on the exam and see how you do before withdrawing. If you have a few more weeks before the W deadline ends, just see how the class goes before taking the W. But if it's not going well.... take it.

thanks for the advice, i appreciate it.

though i am pressing towards taking it in the summer because organic chem starts in the fall, and if i don't make the average or finish 103, then i can't take organic.
and its only offered at certain points throughout the year. so if i take 103 in the fall, i'll have to wait until the next fall to start orgo..
