Just take it. Even if it's not required, it's good for the soul. It's the best way to understand a world filled with change. Heck, you'll probably enjoy it. It's a lot more creative than the math you've been taking in high school (i.e., you won't be following rote algorithms all the time).
I accidently took Calculus. My advisor was asleep that semester I thought I needed one more math. I hated it and only managed to get a B. So I have two full years of math classes. I can say however, that these math classes have never come up in the interviews I've had. That leads me to believe that it really doesn't benefit you much. Maybe I am wrong, but I wouldn't take it unless you really really want to. Maybe you are a wiz in math and can ace it. I couldn't.
You'll need to take physics, and calculus is a pre-req for calculus-based physics. At my school, ONLY calculus-based physics is offered, so, in essence, all pre-meds are forced to take calculus.
