Ok so taking step 2 ck before sept 1 automatically releases your scores to programs correct. you have no choice to release or not before this date.

likewise, if i take step 2 CS before sept 1 will my P/F show up when programs upload my USMLE score (step 1)? can i not let it show up?

im just asking cuz it would totally suck if i fail (even if its rare). so is it best to just wait a few months? im not really in any rush. just wanted to get it out of the way. thanks

My advice: just take it and be done with it. I have mine next week and I'm slowly going insane because its the last thing I have to do as a med student aside from go to graduation (and now I'm convinced I'll fail that f'er).

i might consider waiting until after sept 1st just in case you fail but i would try to do it early. it takes forever to get scores back and if you did fail, it takes forever to schedule again. most residency programs require that you pass it before starting so early is better.

Agree, agree, agree...I took mine in mid-January, and even though I felt like it went ok, the waiting is driving me crazy. If I were to fail the exam, then the timeline becomes very cramped for retaking, waiting for the scores again, and getting certified to graduate prior to residency. It's just an added stress that I could do without.
