Should I take Step 3?

DO PGY-1 here. I took USMLE 1 and 2 alongside COMLEX 1 and 2. Currently at a big, competitive university program (not historically DO). I plan to apply heme/Onc.

Does step 3 matter for fellowship like step 2 does for residency?

Step3 is mostly a licensure exam and I doubt fellowship would care that you did not take it.

The score for step 3 doesn’t matter, but it is expected that it is actually passed.
Some programs will want a full unrestricted license for fellowship.

OP wants to know whether or not he/should take step3 or COMLEX for fellowship. I guess should have been more clear. OP should not worry about step3; should take COMLEX.

Agree that OP needs to pass COMLEX so he can have an unrestricted license.
