Hello! I am taking the MCAT on Friday, and the highest I've ever scored was a 506 (127/126/125/128) [This was also the last score I got]. I have been consistent for the past 3 weeks in between a 505 and 506 with my CARS Section usually at a 128. I took the mcat previously and got a 499 (I didn't know that schools saw the attempt so I submitted anyways).

I have a 3.0 sGPA and 3.5cGPA and I'm going to be in a postbacc this coming year to get my science GPA up. Should I take the 506 or void it and do better?

Please let me know.

Can you not just cancel the test? If you don't feel ready that's what I'd do. the MCAT is not an exam you want to take multiple times.

Are you saying you just received a score of 506?

You need to be careful with voiding as you only have so many times you can test.

If I were in your shoes, I would not void regardless of whether it’s a 506 or you haven’t received your score yet. A 506 with your current stats would lead to an acceptance at a DO school if your ECs are decent.

Go do crush your post-bacc, retake the MCAT (if needed), and move on.

Don't void, you only have a limited number of attempts at the MCAT and you never know if you will need it. If you are not happy with your 506 (and keep in mind some schools average MCAT scores), there is no reason to take it. Give yourself a break and reassess your study methods before going back to it.

There are a few valid reasons to void the test to me, and almost all of them would involve your immediate health or the testing environment. Granted, if it were a serious testing environment issue (like power went out because someone decided to keep the test center open even during a hurricane evacuation order), it's highly likely there is a reschedule protocol that AMCAS and the testing site company will execute to give you a fair shot. If you feel that anxiety got to you so bad that you only finished 2 CARS passages, then I would void.

Understand your full-lengths are supposed to estimate your performance on a real test, but plenty of stories here exist where someone outkicks their coverage or punches above their weight (for the non-sports people: I meant, scores way lower or way higher than their FL test trends suggest).
