I only have four interviews so far. I have applied to 23 programs, mostly in the South and Texas. I have an above average STEP 1 score, low class rank, good letters of recommendation, and an interesting but mostly non-medical CV (Marine Infantry, Structural Engineering).

My interviews are at Baton Rouge, Little Rock, El Paso, and Temple (Texas). I have been outright turned down (I think but I'm not sure because of the wording) by East Carolina.

Should I worry or is it too early? (I got my ERAS application done very early.)

Nope, it is not even close to "panic time". Hang on until ~ December 1. By that time all of the deans' letters are recieved, read, and files completed. If you still have only four interviews, well put on your game face. Just remember "one shot, one kill" works in the match too!

Ditto, and remember, if you can get 10 interviews, you have a 99% chance of matching into EM! Six more to go...

a buddy of mine uses that same motto while frequenting strip clubs

I'm kinda in the same boat. Barely passed Step I (never been good at standardized tests), but have excellent pre-clinical and clinical grades, excellent LORs, lots of research, EMS experience etc. etc. Landed three interviews so far, Univ. of Nebraska, St. Lukes, PA, and York Hosp., PA. Hoping for the best, preparing for the worst.

Hang in there, things will work out! 👍

Still too early at this point. I think two years ago 'round this time I had 3-5 interviews lined up. I was jealous of peeps like MikeCWRU, Hornet, or JPGreer who had like 80 interviews lined up and contracts already printed up for them for Denver and Cincy.

Biznitch, I got rejections from both of those places. Remember my LOR fiasco? The attending who told me I was golden then wrote a crappy SLOR at the program I eventually MATCHED at, who now writes reviews of me as "outstanding" and "chief resident-bound." WTF?

But other than the above, I'll agree with you --- I am awesome.

Also, remember, if you are in texas (given where you are applying) we get spoiled... we find out about med school really really early, interview early. The east coast (and the vast majority of residencies are only now starting to really review apps and send out invites. mid december is when I would seriously panic.

Thanks. I gues I can hold on the hyperventilating and hysterical screaming until December.
