A lot of places won't let employees take the food home even if it's going to be thrown out. It's a cost control thing.

We were given that line of BS when I worked in the food court at the mall. "If you're allowed to eat the food you make mistakes on, you'll make more mistakes or do it on purpose." It didn't stop any of us from eating the food.

Oddly enough, the urge to perform similar actions has not carried over to my current position. mmmm simvastatin.....
