Should there be an IQ limit for future physicians?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
IQ does not measure intelligence. It reflects the pattern (mutable through further schooling) of the individual's brain to manage and process linear information, much the same way that is required for standardized tests, which also do not measure intelligence.

The OP obviously never watched naruto. Rock Lee would like a word with him.

And what an entertaining thread.

This is unnecessarily draconian and deterministic, do you honestly believe that no one below 130 would make a good physician? How is your theory any more sound than eugenics, phrenology or physiognomy? IQ is a flimsy system of quantifying and defining intelligence. 'Intelligence' may be one of the most vague notions in psychology, aptitude in medicine requires certain personality traits and intangibles that no test will ever be able to truly encapsulate and quantify.

Intelligence means how smart you are in problem solving. Like the kid who was in your physics class, didnt study, and still did better than everyone else did.

If this kid and another kid have the same personality, don't you think intelligence matters?

Oh and personality traits might help you become a better people person, but you could be the friendliness person in the world and still kill someone because you didn't know what you were doing. If you were a loved one, im sure you would have wanted him treated by the genius doctor who isn't as nice. So yes, in some cases, intelligence does matter.

It's not that people who don't have more intelligence won't be good doctors, its that they might not be AS good of a doctor.

A good post midnight trolling is indeed something that keeps me entertained while I study. Words cannot describe how much of a narcissistic **** the op is. Luckily from how I understand it application interviews should weed out people like you.

Actually, your post provides more comic value than the OPs did.

The OP actually did have a point. How is his post narcissistic? He never once mentioned that he had an iq.

His post does indeed have a point but his subsequent posts after that seem narcissistic to me. Just how I feel about the situation. While the point he makes is interesting it is more based in fallacy than any data provided on the subject. Also I am glad my post provided some comic relief, it's good to see that even if you believe I am wrong you're laughing about it 😀

If someone could show me evidence that a high score on an IQ test as a premed student is correlated to talent in the field of medicine then maybe he'll have a point. Until then I'm gonna maintain that he really has no valid point.
