Should we list parents info on FAFSA?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Nah. The best thing that can come of it is around a $10,000 fixed interest rate loan.

I heard you have to (for my school at least).
Even though you are considered independent, health profession schools are different than grad schools so you need to put parental information/financial stuff on FAFSA.

That's only if you want to be considered for scholarships from your school. I know that my school doesn't offer that many scholarships though, especially to instate students

My school said that "including parental information will not affect your eligibility for federal Stafford loans."

So if I do include it, the amount that I receive from FAFSA will not be affected in any way, correct? My parents don't make much, but I just want to make sure..

My school recommended that we put in our parents info on the FAFSA, since some scholarships require it. On the FAFSA site itself it also recommends this for professional students. If you can, I don't see how it would hurt you to have that information on there.

It definitely will not hurt. I just saw no point in it. I don't think I will get any scholarships.

"HealthProfessionstudents (Dentistry,Medicine,NursingorPharmacy) must provide bothstudent andparental information to apply forTitleVII grants and loans from theDepartmentofHealthandHumanServices."

This is what it says about my school though.

Yes, same for every school. But you don't need parental info for Stafford loans.
You have to be really poor and 24+ yo to qualify for Title VII grants. I'm not sure what loans are given by Department of Health and Human Services.

What school is this? I am curious.

Doesn't disclosing it make you eligible for the HPSL? Think it was fixed at 5%.

How does it work if your school isn't on the list of participating schools?

Would it be late to apply for fafsa in March? My w2 form doesn't come in until end of February...

Put status as will file and put last years info on it. Submit it before February. Update the info when you get your W2.

I agree. That's how I've always done it since freshman year of college.

I haven't been in school for 2 years, and I am filing for taxes for the first time. So should I use my parents tax info from last year and fill it out?

Hmm well there is a separate part for your parents. I do not know about your situation sorry :/

If I am accepted to a school but I'm waiting for a different school to accept me

do I include both schools in the "University/College" section? or only the school I got into? sorry just confused :/
