How useful do you think knowing sing language would be in dentistry?

I would list it for sure on your application. It shows your dedication to learn a second language, and also shows significant manual dexterity. You have to have pretty good hand control to sign well. It's also pretty unique.

I took two years of ASL in undergrad and made sure to mention it in my personal statement. Realistically though, the patient will most likely have an interpreter, either a family memeber or an interpreter working for a institution. But if the patient can see you sign, just a little bit, it may make them feel more comfortable with you b/c it shows that you understand their culture.

I think that it would be a great thing to put on your app.! While it may not be the "most important" component it sets you apart and is certainly something unique to talk about in an interview 🙂

Great but not much different than any of the 6700 languages in the world.
