How can I get US Private Loan co-signed by American Relative?

I am a Canadian citizen thats going to school in august of this year. I am unable to secure a Canadian Loan as I don't have any Canadian co-signers. I have an American uncle who is willing to co-sign for me. What is the process like for that? Has anyone used an American relative to co-sign for them on a student loan?
