I am taking the DAT for the first time and I HAVE to take it in August (with classes ending this will be the only way I have sufficient time to study). Unfortunately I did not know I have only six months to take the test once I pay. What are my best options other than taking the exam by july 16?

I literally did the same thing as you before. I called them and the only thing you can do is ask them to close the application and pay another 400$ later down the road. It is ridiculously stupid. The lady I spoke to said they used to allow you up to a year to register, so I asked her why they changed and she said she didn't know. Well I know. It's a business and they want to make money.

Try to get a refund or something. Talk to their support. Tell them it was by mistake. Anything!

I would just attempt to study. the DAT is alot of basic material. And some classes may have concepts that overlap with whatever is on the DAT. Why waste 430$.

I think you can extend the date if I'm not mistaken. It would cost more $$ but i don't think $400

OP is saying that they wanted to take the DAT in August, but considering they already applied to take the exam and there is only a 6-month window, the latest date they could take the exam is July 16th, six months after they paid the application fee.

I think that she could sign up though and then pay the rescheduling fee to push back the OP's date into August.
