I applied for a grant for the research I'm doing currently. The grant through my uni's Honors College and I was awarded $800 dollars for my research effort. Is this something that adcoms look at very favorably or does the fact that it's such a small amount make it not so significant. I know $800 isn't even a fraction of typical funding and research costs, at least in my lab but I feel like it shows initiative and that I actually have SOMETHING to offer when I'm doing research.

It isn't really anything to write home about. This is how research happens at a lot of schools. It's basically a stipend. It's better to write about what you learned and what you contributed during your research experience on your app. That's what will be valuable.

IMO, it depends on how the grant is presented. If your mentor talks about how you showed initiative for obtaining funding and how you wrote a small grant yourself and received it, I think it could definitely be a plus. Things like this would be most impactful if talked about in a LOR.

What about a American society of Microbiology fellowship (~4000) is that worth adding and 2 poster presentations at their national conference.. Also Is being the second author on a publication worth mentioning ..
