Significance of the CAS target date

I know that the target date is not a deadline, but obviously it has some significance. I probably won't get my application out until next week (~14th) and I'm wondering what kind of impact this has on things.

This date, I believe, is to help you get your application submitted and distributed to programs before application deadlines. Programs have different deadline dates.

It's a guideline to help applicants not scramble at the last minute to meet deadlines.
