I'm not sure how it is at most med schools, but here there is a clause saying that the admissions committee can rescind an offer of acceptance for, among other things, a sig. decline in academic performance, presumably during the last semester of undergrad. So, before final grades are posted, I already know that this semester will likely be my worst ever as far as gpa goes. It's possible I might have even failed a course :scared: ! How often do they actually rescind an offer based on a rough semester? Empty threat maybe?

can you drop the course you are failing and still graduate? because if so, I might seriously think about that if I was you. My school stipulates that a D or F is grounds for rescinding the offer. don't know how often it happens, but I would not want to find out if I was you. go talk to your prof and see if you are failing

If you fail a course, your chances are high. Be prepared to retake the course this summer, just in case.

Same thing in my school.

Most of the schools require a C or better. I imagine they might be a little flexible if there were good reasons for a drop in grades and you still passed, but I doubt they could overlook an F. Expect to retake at a minimum.

You better find out when your school starts real fast. First years start in July at my school. So, retake may not even be an option for you.

My school also said 'significant decline'. I didn't know if it mean anything below a certain letter grade. To the OP, you may want to talk to the school to make sure they do not have a set letter criteria, and that if they do, you can make up for it this summer. Good luck.

I'm getting a dual major so regardless I will graduate with a degree. Also, I was in contact with the dean of admissions much earlier in the semester becuase I had missed a certain class I was supposed to take and had to take a grad level course to substitute. It was based in computer programming and way over my head. So I told the dean of admin. that I was thinking about dropping it to avoid the bad grade. He said at that point I should stick it out and just do my best and as long as my other grades were ok it wouldn't matter much. Well, that class was so consuming I actually suffered in it and another class as well. So, anyway, I might have come out ok. I won't know the grade until wed., 5 days from now. Until then, i'm kinda stressin'

Well, hope you come through ok.
best of luck
