Silly AACOMAS question

I'm not sure how I will fare in organic II this semester, so I had a question.

What happens if I put a class down as a retake on the AACOMAS app, but have not yet taken it? Is there a slot for, "Retake/Not Yet Taken"? I ask because I'm retaking organic II, but I may drop it this semester if I head down the road I was on before. Thanks.

Yeah, there's an option to indicate what you plan to take next semester. They'll get the jest of it when they see you've already taken it once.

Hi. I don't have a comment about your question, but I am wondering what is the problem with this course for you. If you withdraw from the course for the second time, that may be a problem. Is it the professor or the material? And if you withdraw again, what will you do then? I am not being nosey, but I am worried about you finishing that class, especially since it is a required course for the MCAT and for med school admission.

I took it one year ago, Spring semester of 2003. I got a D. http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=100871 explains the problem I had.

This semester, a new professor came to the university and is teaching this class. I will never take the professor I had before, even though he is considered the "easy" organic professor. Unfortunately, until now he was the only organic II professor. So I literally jumped onto this new guy.

Anyways, basically I just hate this class. It's like playing the same game of monopoly for four months. I get to a point and I'm just like, "**** this ****". I'm used to not really having to study for anything, but a few classes require that I put some time into them. Physics is one, but I don't mind doing work for physics. Organic I I made almost a B in (3 points from it, another dingus professor) without any effort. The only part of organic II I ever enjoyed was near the end, when we did more biochemistry-related stuff.

Organic II is a different story. I just hate it. In fact, I have almost dropped out of premed once because of this class. I know I just need to "suck it up" and do it ....

I don't want to be harsh, but just getting by is not enough. You've talked about not having to do any work. Becoming a doctor is a privlege, it demands work....not slackers who want an easy ride.

It seems to me that you don't know what you want or aren't that passionate about medicine. If I don't understand something, I work harder, committ more time, because I'm investing in my future.

You need to think about what you want.

I already know what I want, and I'm not "just getting by". I am one of those people who do not have to study, sorry if you don't like that. The class was just a surprise to a habit that has done me well since I started undergrad.

15 A's, 6 B+'s, and 14 B's isn't "just getting by". I'm sorry you have to work hard just to pass, but please don't bitch at me because of it. On that note, a game of UT2k3 is calling my name. 😀

Dude, just stick your nose in the book and learn the stuff. Its not a hard subject. The difficulty of this class is the amount of material that must be learned. This characteristic parallels medical school curriculum more than any other prereq. and for this reason they tend to weigh your performance in O. Chem. very heavily. I think it is very important for you to get an A when you retake it. No ofense here but it sounds like your too proud to admit that this class is beyond your ability to do a bare minimum of study and succeed. If you get into medical school with this attitude and plan of study, its certain death for you. Good luck. 👍

A semester long surprise? I agree with the other posts and "suck it up"... oh and what's with the "tude?" We are just giving advice to each other.
