I remember at the beginning of this past summer when I sent out e-mails to several docs asking them if I could shadow them. The stupid thing that I did is that I used the same word format and sent it out as a mass e-mail sort of thing, so instead of having an e-mail sent out for each specialty, I sent it out with the specialtyd "Radiologist" in mind. Plus, the docs could see who else got the cookie-cutter e-mail I sent.

/facepalm

What other silly/stupid things have you guys done?...besides join SDN. Ba-zing!

For our volunteer orientation at my hospital, while the coordinator was giving a tour of the hospital, I sketched out the entire hospital so I could know my way around the first day. This was with a group of about 30 people walking through crowded hallways, I would squeeze my way to the coordinator and ask her what was in every other freakin' room.
Evidently, my sophomore year naivety and blind enthusiasm was immune to the eye-rolling and douche-chill comments.
Worst part was, it was so damn messy by the time I was done, it looked liked a Michael J. Fox connect-the-dots. So I ended up crumpling it up and throwing it out as soon as the tour ended... And I wouldn't be surprised if I did it in front of our group.
Not a single social f*ck was given that year.

Arent you a freshman?
ugh, future gunner

well the stupidest thing i did was tell people that im not going to major in bio, now all the douchey pre-meds constantly tell me how im not gonna get into med school without a bio major.

god i hate "declared" pre-meds

Same, pre-meds who find out I'm a psych major constantly feel like asking if I like science or whether or not medicine is truly my goal.

One time I ordered a Long Island iced tea, thinking it was just iced tea with vodka, and drank it anyway after learning that I was mistaken. I puked in the cab on the ride home. Lesson learned.

Wait, were you looking for something directly related to pre-med? ....🙄

Wait, were you looking for something directly related to pre-med? ....🙄

lol nice one

Without fail I would make a very overloaded and unbalanced course schedule each semester. To top it off I had an insane amount of EC's. It wasn't fun all I did was study study study.

Are these stupid things we did sober or not so sober?

both, a stupid non-sober moment led to something like this for me...

not one of my proudest moments

Only one and you got sick?

Not study as much as I should've for Ochem 🙁

I think for some of us, telling our stories would result in an immediate ban from this website!!

walked through a forest and lost a pair of Jordans.

My freshman year, I was emailing multiple professors in the same area of research to see if they had spots open in their labs. I was tailoring each email to the lab's research and I totally sent an e-mail talking about the wrong research to one of the PI. I later learned that these two labs were located right next to each other and across the lab where I was working at for a year 😳

Because psychology doesn't employ the scientific method and because psychiatry is not at all related to psychology. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

I took a bunch of honors classes before someone pointed out that AMCAS doesn't care when they calculate my GPA...

Did NOT play enough call of duty, oh wait I did.

Have not started studying hard enough
Underestimated peers and university

What does it mean to do stupid things as a pre-med rather than just stupid things as a person? I confused.

You are forgetting that pre-meds need to wear special socks, drink special water, and make special stupid mistakes to get into med skul.

I know, right? I'm a little confused. I mean, are we talking stupid stuff we've done while in college taking pre-med classes, or stupid things done in the context of those classes or any activities traditionally associated with pre-mediness?

Cause I've NEVER done anything stupid in the context of my med school preparation, but I sure have done a lot of stupid stuff otherwise.

For any adcoms that may be reading this, I've learned from all of my mistakes and am a better person for it. Yay!

I think most pre-meds who question non-science majors somehow believe that they will have an extremely knowledgeable background and advantage for medical school.

I've had some people tell me it'll be impossible to get into medical school coming from a degree in film production. The argument was medical schools only accept bio/chem/biochem majors and having all those upper divs was "necessary" to prepare you for medical school. Those same people changed their tune when I got a 36 on the MCAT and they all had to retake .

if it weren't for my horse, i wouldn't have spent that year in college

Maybe I should clarify. Stupid things you have done during your time as a pre-med, medical or non-medical

long island iced tees are disgusting..anywho I got drunk and made a fool of myself...twice. I regret not doing it more, but I'm only a freshman, I have plenty of time.😀

My roommate urinated on my jeans in the middle of the night during freshman year. I sort of heard it happening but didn't put 2 and 2 together, just thought he was spilling water or something. I woke up in the AM, put the jeans on, and they were soaked. Again, I just though "thats really weird", but didn't connect it with the "spilling" noise from the night. I wore them for like 6 hours and went to help my buddy clean up his house. As soon as I walked in his door he just says, "man, you really smell like piss." Only then did I actually figure it out.
